There are moments, brief as they may be, where the spectator is unguarded. Those unguarded are so singularly immersed in the experience that theyÕre unaware of anyone watching. Often, their emotions are reflected inward, eyes closed. Other times, the emotion is projected outward, explosive and angry, joyful and awestruck.
This book captures some of those moments, representing my own definition of what ÒportraitÓ means Ñ a picture not posed or predetermined, where the subject has neither relationship with nor awareness of the photographer. It is photography of the self, both introspective and extroverted.
