I went to China to work as a polisher for Women of China magazine. I took my 8-year-old daughter with me. It was at the beginning of China's vast economic expansion. When my daughter became ill, I was faced with a challenge: stay in the job I'd come to love and hope for her recovery, or to return home to the US. This is that story.
