This book is dedicated to the lives and descendant families of Ira & Mintia (Gunnels) Hartley of Douglas County in the southern Missouri Ozarks. In 1910, Ira Hartley and Mintia Gunnels married in western Douglas County, a few miles west of the county seat of Ava. The first part of the book focuses on the coupleÕs marriage, parents and siblings. The reader should note that this is not a traditional family history book that attempts to trace a family back as far as possible. Instead this is called a Òfamily bookÕ that starts with the lives of Ira & Mintia and traces their descendants forward to the present time.
While it tells the reader about Ira and MintiaÕs, the book focuses even more on their four children and their 20 grandchildren.
This book is printed in color because many of its over 400 hundred photos are in color. We hope members of our Hartley family and many more who have an interest in Douglas County and the Hartley and Gunnels lines will enjoy it.
