In life we learn lessons in one of three ways: by experiencing them, observing them, or through the wisdom gifted to us by a loving elder. In Victoria Huggins PeurifoyÕs prose and poetry we are privileged to actually learn by all three methods. As a writer, Victoria (or as she is affectionately called ÒThe AxiomÓ) delivers her personal story so honestly and intimately you at times believe she is talking about you or you start to think you are her! But what ultimately comes through is the fact that she, as an elder, imparts the insights she has gained. Too often in todayÕs literary world, memoirs or autobiographies become nothing more than sensationalized Òtell allÓ exposŽs. Their only value comes from shock.
