Buchan, once part of the Pictish kingdom, is now one of six Administrative areas of Aberdeenshire County Council, Scotland. It has a considerable ancient history. This story, A Buchan Boy, starts with a young man volunteering for active service and looks at his life, his growing up in an extreme NE corner of Scotland, the Fraserburgh of the1920s.
Since Hubert Mitchell wrote A Buchan Boy and printed it for his immediate family in Australia, many have visited Fraserburgh. Now, 18 years on, Averil Mitchell has decided to open the family story to a wider audience, in the hope that a new generation will take a look at the historical background of a family in the Fraserburgh of the1920s.
