A Hermit's Cabin Cookbook does not exist as just another cookbook on the shelf of some suburban kitchen. Certainly not all of these recipes are good ideas, and in fact some might be decidedly bad. These recipes cannot be duplicated without summoning a rainy mountain on a chilly day, or replicating a little wood-burning stove in a tiny one-room shack perched precariously on a poison-oak covered slope. One might think that this would therefore be a collection of recipes for overcooked rocks or undercooked goats; maybe so. But before you pass your final judgement, please pass the salt.
Also note that this book is best consumed in its full-color, hardcover form because it is rich in photographs. This little pocket version is great for travelling, and the B&W photos are decently reproduced on glossy paper, but the author advises you spend the extra few bucks on the hardback version.
