It was originally conceived of as a doctor's dissertation, but was edited and reformatted by Hikaru Kitabayashi and Kalu Singh Mehta for publication by The American Society of Geolinguistics Publications (ASG Publications: Senior Editor, Wayne Finke), as its first single-authored volume dealing with corpus linguistics. Within this field, this book will be found to be a groundbreaking work in the emerging field of learner corpora.
