After Shirley Bratton's daughter, Jackie, died in 1994, Shirley took a counselor's advice to do something to help her heal. She wound up taking English and psychology courses at a nearby Christian college. Her final paper for both courses resulted in this open and honest book about the hardships of mothering a severely disabled child.
