Kostyniuk has delved into this realm of aesthetic purity for over 50 years, continually grappling with new ways with which to visualize inherent structural properties in a mode readily communicable to others. His work is ultimately social, and seeks to engage humanity by providing the optimal conditions with which viewers can participate with his art. The constructed relief has provided Kostyniuk with a vehicle for realizing those goals, its combination of 2- and 3-dimensional properties Ð originally derived from painting and sculpture - developed into abstractions by the relational placement of geometric forms, along with their meticulous color modulation.
