This is a guide to the historic forts and trading posts of the region for those who are interested in visiting such historic sites. We list some of the more prominent of better known posts. Most of these posts remain locked in their isolated or semi-isolated backcountry
wilderness and are not easy to access. Some have yet to be found. Many are located on private property. Some are marked, but most remain unmarked.
