To Parents:
As educators and moms to two young children each, we know how difficult it is to prioritize taking care of yourself, and in turn, teach our little ones its importance. Our hope for this journal is to provide a jumping off point for your child to learn some of the essentials in taking care of yourself, specifically affirming, meditating, and reflecting.
At the beginning of each week, pick with your child a meditation they (and you!) can practice each day, either in the morning or at night. In the morning, prior to the start of their day, fill out the first 2 prompts with your child. For the affirmations, read them out loud, and have your child repeat them after you. Having them say it in a mirror is even better! Then, have them circle the smiley face that best represents how they feel at that moment (angry, happy, silly, loved, excited, sad). At the end of the day, before bedtime (as part of a nightly routine), give your child the chance to draw and/or write something about their day, the third and final section. This can be an opportunity to discuss something further that's on their mind.
