After The Wild Bunch focuses on the outlaws who remained in Wyoming after Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid left the state and finally went to South America.
These men and women lived out their lives and deaths in and around Thermopolis. If there were those who thought the Big Horn Basin would become a quieter place once Cassidy had left, they were soon proved to be wrong.
Horse theft remained a major problem well into the twentieth century. Slowly but surely lawmen replaced their horses with automobiles as they tried to enforce new laws that banned gambling and liquor. But gambling and liquor remained among the main forms of entertainment for many of the men who had been cowboys and outlaws in the late nineteenth century.
Several of the old-time outlaws died with their boots on, killed in feuds, lynchings, saloon brawls, or bank robberies.
And sadly, several lawmen also lost their lives in the Big Horn Basin, After the Wild Bunch.
