The first account, in English, of AICAÕs eventful sixty years, as a global association of critics and professionals concerned with the evaluation and analysis of contemporary art. This institutional history describes how AICA grew from modest beginnings, as an offshoot of UNESCO, into a world-wide federated network of over 60 Sections and 4,000 members. At a time of seismic change in the visual arts, when commercialism and populist politics are in the ascendant, AICA still holds out hope for critical integrity and debate and provides a valuable forum for intercultural exchange.
