The history of the Jasper area is largely unknown.
Here we look at the history of West Central Alberta including the mountain region between the Athabasca and Smoky/Peace rivers up to 1800 A.D.
This volume covers the deglaciation, archaeological, protohistoric history. Both pre-historially and historically this was a transition area between the Plains, Northern Woodlands and Plateau, making it different from that of the mainstream prehistory of Alberta. The
volume also covers prehistoric population densities and early legendary history.
