BOTH volumes are required due to the records being cataloged (in the Archives) by category and NOT by date. This is the first volume. Alleghany County was formed in 1859 from Ashe County, and borders the Virginia-North Carolina State line. Ashe County resides to the immediate west, and Surry County on the east. Ashe County was formed from Wilkes in 1799, and Wilkes from Surry in 1777. Therefore, road records before 1859 will reside in Ashe County (already transcribed by this author). Alleghany County was never subdivided and remains the same since formation. This collection is unique in several ways. Most county road records are cataloged (in each folder) by year and not by content. This collection was cataloged by content (e.g. Petitions separated from jury reports). There were NO mill records found for this county.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Stewart Dunaway","offers":[{"title":"Paperback","offer_id":43998373904545,"sku":"1234569278","price":38.95,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0462\/1120\/3233\/files\/1re5d8yz-front-shortedge-384_5f7f01f8-950d-4128-b5b0-bbfea23e52f2.jpg?v=1747345891","url":"https:\/\/bookswholesale.myshopify.com\/products\/alleghany-county-n-c-road-records-volume-1-1861-1910","provider":"BooksWholesale","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
