Ages 8 to 14 years. After the death of her parents, Amanda Barrington is sent to Hillview Orphanage even though she should be living the life of luxury in her beloved Barrington Manor. As a runaway from the orphanage her life takes a series of bazaar turns, including metting Sir Edgar Edward Hillary, Esquire, a gentleman's gentlman and a bum.
