In the late 18th century, a new country was born. By the dawn of the 20th century, the United States of America had grown into a mighty nation. Along the way, the young country experienced many trials, tribulations and triumphs.
This work is a historical fiction, created by teens, designed to be enjoyed by children ages 9-12. It ;borrows incidents from out country's storied past, mixes in a healthy dose of middle school imagination, and weaves together twenty fascinating tales which bring history to life in a bold new way.
In the Spring of 2018, the Eighty Grade Language Arts Class at Good Shepherd Catholic School in Santa Cruz, California participated in a project-based learning workshop which prepared them to write and publish works of fiction.
IN the class, students learned about the elements of a story, the craft of an author, stylistic techniques, and grammar and mechanics. This book is the tangible result of their efforts.
