An Anxious Time for Men: Pregnancy is a research study conducted in 2003. Available research shows that first time expectant father stress increases and marital satisfaction decreases during pregnancy. Depression which occurs frequently postpartum in mothers and, although acknowledged, it remains undocumented for new fathers. Yet, the precursors for postpartum depression appear the same for men and women. What are the behavioral changes that first time dads experience? Is there a correlation among anxiety, stress, depression, and marital satisfaction? Among any random sample of first time fathers, how many have affairs, abuse their partners, and become distracted from their domestic relationship?
