This dissertation addresses the security issues of the current password systems identifying their weaknesses and reporting on a system that uses a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card as an authentication device. The need for stronger identification devices is justified with references to related literature and experience analysing password usage and password security systems employed in various organisations. A new password system is developed describing its design, stages of its implementation, methods of testing and possible future enhancements.
