APPROVED COMICS was a twelve issue series released by ST. JOHN PUBLISHING
beginning in March of 1954. APPROVED COMICS presented a different genre with each
issue. There were westerns, superheroes, jungle tales, aviation adventures, crime, funny
animals, war stories, Canadian Mounties and even Robin Hood. APPROVED COMICS
presented an amazing array of talents and themes.
THE HAWK rides into town to help a farmer and his beautiful daughter who are being
besieged by bandits. This adventure has terrific artwork by Dan Barry and Murphy Anderson.
Also included are two other gripping western tales with art by George Tuska and Murphy
Anderson. Interesting historical note, APPROVED COMICS #1 also was published
simultaneously as THE HAWK #5.
