Eric Doeringer's "Arcs, Circles & Grids" is based on a 1972 artist's book by Sol LeWitt. The book features drawings of every possible combination of arcs (from the corners and the midpoints of sides), circles, and grids -- a total of 195 permutations. Many of these provided the basis for LeWitt's famous "Wall Drawings" (such as "Wall Drawing 138 - Circles and Arcs from the Midpoints of Four Sides"). Doeringer has re-drawn every illustration in the original book. But, much as the dimensions of the wall determine the appearance of a Wall Drawing, the smaller format of DoeringerÕs book (7.5 x 7.5Ó vs. the original 8 x 8Ó) makes DoeringerÕs illustrations vary slightly from the ones in LeWittÕs book.
