This is an updated edition of Bro Graham PearceÕs booklet published in the 1970Õs which in turn was based on an original booklet published during the Second World War.
Bro Graham was concerned at the position the brotherhood had put itself in with its offer in 1941 that ÒWe are willing as a matter of duty that our powers should be used for the good of the country and are prepared to offer our services wholeheartedly in any direction demanded by the national emergency, provided that such service does not involve violation of conscienceÓ.
Was Civil Defence work compatible with our calling? Bro Graham examines the scriptural case for our refusing to undertake such duties in time of emergency.
How is this relevant to us today? We anticipate a time of trouble as GodÕs judgments are increasingly felt by this ungodly world.
