What is a husband? What is a husband, really? Is a husband a position? Is it a civil position? Is it religiously charged in any way? Is a husband a male version of his wife? Is a husband the bread-winner? Is a husband anything he and his wife agree he can be? If we want to get the answer to this question right, and we do, we must go to the source which knows husbands best; namely, he who created the first husband and he who forever remains a husband. Once the relationship between husband and wife are put aright and functioning in their proper, biblical respects, the marriage itself becomes an efficacious sign and model of the Gospel. In this way, marriage is a monster; the good kind. Marriage is the kind of monster you discover in your backyard only after having purchased the house. In its goodness and rightness, hiding it is not an option. It must be let loose. And once you realize its power, nothing will stop you from letting it loose.
