This book brings together the memoirs of two generations of a family from South Yorkshire. Edith Barrett was born in 1897 and spent her childhood and working life in Swinton and Brampton Bierlow before retiring to North Yorkshire. Her son, Colin, grew up in Brampton Bierlow before becoming the first of the family to go to University. After serving in the RAF, he moved to Dorset in order to take up a teaching post and spent the rest of his life there.
