Austin is asked to become the head of a small congregation of thirty-two people with the responsibility to look after their temporal and spiritual welfare. The burden seems heavy for a boy just starting his college life. He can't afford a car and must walk to work, a work he must do to buy food and pay the light bill. Thirty-two People, it seems, can have many problems but it just a normal cross section of humanity. In addition to his congregation he has to deal with a redneck neighbor whose life style is completely opposite to everything that Austin believes, his culture and background.
