Over his lifetime, Lachlan M. McLennan (born 1852 in Scotland) wrote a hand-written autobiography. Miraculously, the autobiography survived the 1935 Iowa house fire in which he tragically perished. To preserve his story, the autobiography was first transcribed in the 1980s by family to a typewritten copy. With the passage of time, his great-granddaughter (Diane McLennan Felt) began a journey to further preserve it for the 21st Century. Thus, it has been transcribed yet again! Photos, documents, and tidbits have been added by Diane and LachlanÕs grandson (Louis M. Winslow, co-editor with Diane) to enhance Lachlan's autobiography. Appreciate the values that Lachlan and his wife, Lodosca (Plumb), had for education, successful occupations, community involvement, and making a better world for their family. It is our hope that this story will be preserved for many years in this newest format. Be inspired by this Scottish Immigrant Story from the Highlands of Scotland to the rolling hills of Poweshiek County, Iowa.
