This short play seeks to highlight the charitable works of Thomas Barnardo and his commitment to destitute children.
The reader is introduced to five mudlarks (boys and girls who live on the mudflats of the River Thames) and other supporting characters, around whom the story of the establishment of Barnardo's homes for destitute children is played out.
The play is written for fifteen actors, offering different levels of acting ability.
Barnardo was first performed by the students of Buckswood School, Hastings to celebrate the building of their Great Hall in 2016 and was directed, on that occasion, by professional actor and director Riggs O'Hara.
