From Wikipedia : Ludwig van Beethoven's Turkish March (Marcia alla turca) is a widely recognized classical march theme. The theme, bearing a certain Turkish quality, was first used in his Op. 76 piano variations of 1809, "6 Variations on an Original Theme." It's interesting to note that Op. 76 appeared two years before Op. 113, the Ruins of Athens, even though many music lovers associate this theme with that latter work. In 1811 Beethoven wrote an overture and incidental music to a play by August von Kotzebue called The Ruins of Athens (Op. 113) that premiered in Pest in 1812. The Turkish March theme is one item from the incidental music (viz., No. 4).
The march is in B flat major, tempo vivace and 2/4 time with a quarter note getting one beat.
