'Before The Rain and other stories' is an international collaboration between students who do not speak the same language and have very different cultures and worldviews. However, they share a love for the graphic novel as a form of story telling. During spring of 2013, a unique collaboration took place between American high school art students who were partnered with university art education students in Superior, Wisconsin. Using hand-sketched and painted images, the partners created graphic novels created from stories written by Mexican students who attend the Oaxaca Learning Center in Oaxaca (el Centro de Aprendizaje de Oaxaca). The Oaxaca students volunteered to write short stories with environmental themes for this project.
