It is London in the mid 1950s and little Benny
and his parents have recently arrived from the
West Indies.
Benny misses the warmth of his island home but
is beginning to feel at ease in his corner of the big, bustling city with its pea-souper fogs and unfamiliar sights, sounds and smells.
Then, one day, playing in a patch of wasteland, he stumbles upon a stash of stolen money. Despite trying to give it away to people he sees in need, Benny is caught up in a fast-paced adventure that sees him chased across London, unsure who to trust and how to find his way home.
