From Istanbul via Iran and Afghanistan to New Delhi, the wonders of Bangkok, Rangoon, Angkor Wat and Kathmandu, this journey would be impossible today. Full of many extraordinary kindnesses, daily frustrations and dangers, this is the story of my travels and of the many wondrous things I saw.
