This writing project gave students at Paulo Freire Social Justice Charter School in Holyoke, Massachusetts, a unique challenge. It asked them to turn their darkest days into brighter ones. It asked them to turn their weaknesses into strengths by writing about them and learning from them. The daunting challenge was to Òown their storiesÓ so as to change those stories. For the better.
