What is a Calendar of Firsts? It helps students (and adults) become more observant. You start taking note of the first snow of the year, the first daffodil, first rosebud tree blossom, first cicada, first robin egg, first magnolia blossom, first maple tree changing colors, etc. You can also note things like subzero temps like we had a few years ago, ice storms, lady bug swarms (they are actually called Japanese lady beetles), not so fun pests you find in your garden, record rainfall and record high temps.
ItÕs fun to be able to look back and see the varying dates that we saw the first daffodil which is always a reminder to me that spring is coming.
The notebook has enough lines that it can be used many, many years.
You donÕt even have to be a homeschooler to use it! You could do one as a family or everyone could have their own copy.
Goes along great with most Charlotte Mason curriculums.
