20 page pamphlet complete with photos, charts, and maps presented in memory of Captain John May Smith of the 105th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Company G and his involvement, along with his unit, in the Battle Of Resaca during the Civil War in May 1864. The presentation begins with his enlistment on through to his obituary. It contains history documentation, photos, maps, and notes from the Captain's (a First Lieutenant during the battle) own diary of events. The Battle of Resaca was the first major battle that involved a full contingent of both Federal and Confederate armies. It ended inconclusively with the Confederate Army pulling back from Resaca.
