Carteret County, N.C. is a very old county (formed in 1722)on the east coast of North Carolina. However, the old 18th century records are very sparse, and none of the Colonial era records were preserved. However, what was preserved are contained in this book. This 2-box collection as a handful of 18th century records and then followed by records up to 1905. There is one ferry record (1813), one bridge record (1888), and very few Òcanal recordsÓ (1813,1901) which were in Box 2 of the road records. Each record contains a photo-image of the original document, and a detailed index (Last, First name) is provided for easy searching. There are a few old record dealing with Ocracoke Island as well as a drawing (shown on the front cover)
