Caswell County was formed in 1777, from the northern part of Orange County. Caswell County was divided in half in 1791, when Person County was formed from the eastern side. The county seat was moved to Yanceyville (from Leasburg Ð named after the Lea family).
Miscellaneous land records are a Òcatch allÓ of land disputes, agreements, surveys, etc. Caswell County has one box of Ejectment papers, and one box of Miscellaneous land records. Person Co. has their own collection of records as well. There are a few plats, and a few computer generated plats for a few tracts of land north of Milton in VA on the state line. Also a USGS map with one of these tracts. A few old roads are also noted.
