An artistic photographic interpretation of the phrase City of Palms, the official slogan of the City of Fort Myers, Florida. The intent is exploration of the palm tree's iconicity, asking: what is the connection between its form and its meaning? The project was completed over several years with a very large exhibition at The Sidney and Berne Davis Arts Center in downtown Fort Myers. The "Beyond" portion of our project is about more than extended geography. It expands to something "Beyond" just trees in thoughts and emotions: something beneficial that we don't fully understand right now, but we feel it has value. We are talking about psycho-geography, an examination of our sense of place and the nature of our connection to it.
