This is a technically challenging sonata written for Bb Clarinet with piano accompaniment. It contains 3 movements, each of which has its own character.
Movement 1 (Allegro Vivace):
Sonata-Allegro form. Lively and energetic with fast, technical, scale-like passages exploiting the full range of both the clarinet and the piano.
Movement 2 (Larghetto):
Binary form. Slow and calming, however should be played with slight agitation in the second half. This movement leads straight into the third with a dominant preparation chord in the piano part.
Movement 3 (Allegro Assai):
Sonata Rondo form. Quite fast, but leisurely, with small variations each time the rondo theme occurs.
