An 8 week ÒCoding Microbits using PythonÓ computer science course.
This course is targeted at middle school students grades 7-9 (ages 12-14 years). It is also written for teachers who may not have a Computer Science background, or who may be teaching coding to students for the first time.
This course takes about 8 weeks to complete, spending about 1 week (2-3 hours) on each of the first 6 lessons, and about 2 weeks for students to complete the Ò07 Innovation Mini-ProjectÓ.
The lessons are designed to introduce students to the concepts and skills of: cooperation, problem solving, coding, debugging, collaboration, presenting, etc. using physical computing in a fun and exciting learning environment. The activities use a ÒmakingÓ approach in all of the modules. The coding environment will use MicrobitÕs Python online IDE (https://python.microbit.org/v/2.0 ). Python is one of the top programming languages that is in high demand in the tech world.
