This presentation is a concentrated effort of ThomasÕs Compendium Theologica, formulated particularly with succinct chapters designed to handle the doctrine of God and the various aspects of the Christian Faith. Through a careful engagement with the text, readers will encounter the very basics and some of the most important elements of the doctrine of God, delivered by Thomas in one fell swath.
ThomasÕs production of theological works had various ends; but whether it was his commentary on the Sentences or the two Summae, his overall goal is best expressed as giving milk to beginning students (ST I prologue). This is no more true than in the Compendium, or Òbrief compass,Ó of theology, as Thomas makes clear in his prologue: his goal was to make small the things of God, just as the eternal Word Òtook our littlenessÓ and compressed all of divinity therein.
