Since 1960, the growing presence of Hispanics has skyrocketed and stimulated the national growth rate of the United States starting from 6.3 million to now 56.5 million in 2015. With such a large growth rate, Hispanics have become the largest minority group in the United States. As of 2016, the 115th Congress has a record high of 45 Hispanic Members, making up 8.4% of Congress. Additionally, Hispanics are not uniform: they come from many different countries and may have very different political views. This raises the question of the potential variation of campaigning issues candidates have stressed towards the Latino community within the last decade. Do Hispanic candidates use similar strategies of other race/ethnicities to win?
