Donald (Don) Ayers was raised in a small Wisconsin town where a street sign still bears the family name.Ê He made a career as a state patrolman, but his passion was the outdoors and cooking. He, his wife, Carol, and three children enjoyed hunting and fishing. Don prepared the family meals from their bounty. Ever experimenting in the kitchen, Don created tasty dishes still talked about by friends and family to this day.
Jean Ayers, second child to Don and Carol, sifted through decades of recipes handwritten on index cards, often dashed off in cryptic form with helpful instructions such as, ÒFirst, skin the gooseÓ!
