Born in 1932 in Siler City, NC (population 1,770) Gerald A. Smith was raised by 3 mothers, one white and two black. Gerald, uneducated as a youth, strived only to make a living in the townÕs only cotton mill. Awkward, shy, and an introvert with no social life, he grew up without TV, internet, or games except for a worn-out Monopoly board. In this book, Gerald shares stories about his experiences growing up and how he transformed from a Cotton Mill Hillbilly to an Army veteran, family man, and successful IBM manager.
