By chance encounter, Paul meets Virginie and Morenita in a Geneva street clearly in distress. They claim that they are being followed by a man that appears drugged. Not noted for his bravery, Paul intervenes and threatens to call the police. Despite the warnings the man remains doggedly persistent and only on arrival of the police does he show him his passport before disappearing. Witzh him gone, the gallant escorts his refugees to safety and in doing so, he sets off a trail that will change his life and propel him along a course beyond his control.
Inspired by the seventeenth century novel 'Paul et Virginie', the author presents an option where nature distorts and the protagonist is faced with the choice of halting his decline and entering a world where his youth and wealth are guaranteed. It comes with an awful price, for Virginie passes with it a destiny of cold loneliness and an immortal dissatisfaction.
