Jorge Egea (Zaragoza, Spain 1975) presents a new collection of works, made largely in porcelain, entitled DEFORMATIO, found at the boundary between sculpture, objects and jewellery.
Making the most of his passion for classical culture and his previous experience in studying the image of the Greco-Roman god Apollo, Egea has created deformations of the ideal Apollonian image. These deformations have allowed the exploration of issues that not as yet discussed in previous works, such as irony, leisure or transgression using the shapes that constantly remind us of the presence of our classic archaeological culture, as well as the sense of loss inherent to our symbiotic relationship with antiquity. This fragility also reminds us the human condition that is represented by a set of ex-votos as a votive offering to Apollo, who also represents virile beauty and masculine strength.
