After studying the patterns of growth in the downtown of San Antonio, the question is how will the city grow in the future years to come. The city has taken almost 170 years to obtain a population of 1.5 million people, but by the year 2040 the city is expected to increase its population by 1.1 million. How will San Antonio accommodate its future growth? How can the city grow while still respecting the historical context, focal points, visual landmarks and nodes of the city? Most importantly, how can the city implement design guidelines that can make a livable, sustainable, economical, and cultural city.
