The handwritten journal contained in this book was originally written by Lorena (Kidd) Goodwin, describing what she could remember about her grandparents and her many aunts, uncles and cousins. We have added much more extensive research details about all of the families mentioned.
Hudson P. Kidd was born about 1785 in Amherst County and died about 1843 in Nelson County, Virginia. HudsonÕs son, Edmund Tucker Kidd (born in 1823) - one of 9 children - served in the Mexican War and the Civil War where he survived several months as a POW. HudsonÕs granddaughter, Lorena (Kidd) Goodwin, was born in 1865 in Nelson County and died in 1950 in Washington, DC. Lorena lived in Washington, DC after her marriage to Samuel Goodwin. Her son Harry Goodwin was an award-winning photographer for The Washington Post for many years.
