People become Christians for many different reasons. Many come to Christ in their time of need and desperation, with a hope for help, relief, and deliverance.
Though God is not the author of confusion, He allows certain circumstances to attract our attention. When we come to Him for help, He helps us, knowing He has a more noble purpose for drawing us or attracting us to Him.
He has a blueprint for our lives. A purpose He wants us to fulfill.
