Harper finds herself in a world of change. Her beloved dad was killed in Iraq and her mom volunteered to go to South America to help provide free medical services to those in need. That leaves Harper feeling abandoned. Granny Rose invites her to stay at the ranch until her mom returns, which should be about Christmas time. She learns many things over the summer - some of them very surprising!
