"Dulcamara, or the Little Duck and the Great Quack" is a burlesque of Gaetano Donizetti's opera, L'Elisir d'Amore. Written by W.S. Gilbert in 1866, the play tells the story of Nemorino, a Neopolitan peasant who loves Adina, the village coquette. She has spurned his love for the soldier Belcore, so Nemorino buys a love potion from travelling Doctor Dulcamara. Dulcamara's assistant, Beppo, holds a mysterious secret.
With new music by Scott Farrell and additional words by John Spartan, this incredibly silly play is now available for performing groups. This score contains all the dialogue as well as seven songs from the original 1866 production. Our new version was performed in concert by the Rockford Operetta Party in 2008.
